It's traditionally a slow time for my business after Christmas. The wedding dress alterations are a slow burn and the made to measure projects are just beginning to take shape.

I like to use this time to get creative. Sketching, fabric sampling and researching new design ideas or window displays are the order of the day.

The month started with the refurbishment of the back of the workroom area, and like most projects it's taken a bit longer to complete, but it will be worth it when it's finished.

I've been working on a few wedding dress alterations for spring brides and 2 mother of the groom made to measure outfits.

The month has finished with a flourish, a well planned photo shoot at Shottle Hall took place, which proved to be a wonderful experience. With Styling by @Elayne'sfaces , photography by @livapasek, modeling from Ella and Charlotte and dresses provided by Ruth Day Atelier. I am really looking forward to seeing the end results, and be sure I'll share them here.

I have a rail of sample wedding dresses in the shop, all beautiful and ready to wear, however I also have some dresses that could do with livening up, and that's exactly what I did with a vintage Ian Stuart dress and a St Patrick dress. For the photo shoot I decided to create a new bridal look from the 2 dresses, using the bodice of Ian Stuart dress and attaching it to the huge tulle skirt of the St Patrick. It worked out so well, its definitely something I will be doing again, maybe next time I'll video the process.

Finishing the month with my 48th birthday and a lovely day antique shopping, picked up a few bits of the shop and sparked some great window display ideas. Roll on February.
